HUGE thanks for voting for I Heart Nap Time on Mission Small Business. You guys rock!
As a Lowes Creator this month we were challenged to give our backyard a little makeover. It was a sign! Our poor backyard has been seriously neglected over the past year. It’s been fun to spend time out there the last month… although it is blazing hot. Luckily we are almost finished. :)
The patio got the first makeover. Then the last few weeks we’ve been pulling weeds, moving rocks, planting grass and laying brick.
The new grass is just barely sprouting and this week we planted flowers in the flower bed.
This is what it looked like before….. SAD, huh?!
The first thing we (okay Deric) did was dig out all the weeds. Then we laid down a weed barrier to keep those dang things out of the flower bed! Weeds in Arizona are the worst. They never go away!
Then we poured in the planters soil. That bag sat in my trunk over night and the smell has still not gone away.
Next we smoothed down the soil with a rake and then headed to Lowe’s to pick up some pretty flowers. They had so many to choose from!
The kids loved helping me plant the flowers. Carson’s new favorite thing is to water them every day.
It feels so good to have the weeds gone. Flowers are so much prettier. I’m so happy that our backyard is finally coming together. More to come…

It looks fabulous! I just love the flowers! I also live here in AZ, and am amazed that you and your family were able to stand the heat. ;) Best of luck!
