Easy Valentines Day Decor (DIY Lipstick Art)

HELLO Nap Time friends! It’s Destiny from A Place for Us Blog and I’m here today sharing an easy Valentine’s day home decor project. I admit, I don’t normally decorate for Valentines Day. Between the holiday season, family birthdays and anniversaries, I just never seem to fit it in. But this idea came to mind and I just had to share. One, because it’s super easy and SO not intimidating and 2, I think it will get you in the mood for Valentines Day. :0)

Easy-Valentine-Craft

Here what you will need to make this easy Valentines Day Decor:

  • a variety of pink and red lipsticks
  • drawing paper
  • 8×10 frame
  • pencil
  • heart template (optional)

I used regular drawing paper for this project, but feel free to use a canvas or any other type of paper. Just make sure you test it out before using it. You want to make sure the lipstick adheres to the paper well so it can dry properly.

I’m sure every woman has left over lipstick in there make up stash. You know, from the ones that didn’t work out:0) But if you need some extra colors. Just go to you local drug store or dollar store and pick up some for 99 cents!

 Instructions:

First take your drawing paper and your heart template and and lightly draw a heart in the middle.

Then start at the left side of the heart and begin to “color” your heart by using bold strokes. Keep doing that with different shades of lipstick until you’re done.

The key to this technique is going outside of the pencil lines. Have fun!

Allow the print to dry for about 24 hours and then frame it.

Wasn’t that simple! High Fives all around!! I think these would be great gifts for a valentine! Or even a perfect art piece for your Valentine’s mantel. I also think they would be awesome as children’s art!

What a cute idea! I might have to go pick up some lipstick just to make this (since I have no red lipstick lying around).

What a great way to use up old lipstick! @Heather I once saw old lipstick at a thrift store (kinda gross, I know), it would be cheaper than buying it a store! I also found some other great DIY ideas on this article > http://www.fatwallet.com/blog/amazing-diy-valentine-s-gifts-for-your-sweetheart/

I love this idea. I just whipped out all of my “bonus time” lipsticks and made several of these with my girls. I love ideas like this with an alternate use for some common items. Thanks for the inspiration.
