Welcome to the Crazy Christmas Event! If you’re new here, join us on Facebook and Pinterest. Now let’s give Rebecca from The Crafted Sparrow a big welcome! We’re so happy to have you guest posting!

Hi there friends!  It’s Rebecca from The Crafted Sparrow sharing a fun take on handmade ornaments.  If you love to add a personal touch to your tree each year, or find fun ways to switch the theme up on a budget this project is for you.

Black and White Geometric Ornaments by The Crafted Sparrow on iheartnaptime.com

I love making handmade ornaments each year for my tree.  Year to year I have a new theme for my tree, so hand making some of the ornaments really helps to save money and add the custom look I want.  These Black & White Geometric Ornaments are some of my latest.

Supplies:

geometric shaped paper mache ornaments
white acrylic paint
black acrylic paint
foam paint brush
small detail paint brush
wood beads
copper spray paint (optional)
copper wire or thread (optional)

Start by giving each paper mache ornament a couple coats of white acrylic paint.  Set aside and let dry.

Once dry use a small detail paint brush and black acrylic paint to follow the design lines from each ornament shape.  Paint carefully to get steady lines.  Set aside to dry.

I cut the original gold thread hangers that came on these paper mache ornaments since they didn’t match the theme I was going with, instead I used some copper wire I had on hand to create some new hangers.  Just hot glue them into the tops of each ornament.

I also spray painted some wood beads in a couple of sizes.  These will go on top and bottom of the ornaments with some hot glue to give it a finished look.

I love how easy these were to make and that I have custom ornaments for my tree without breaking the bank.

Welcome to the Crazy Christmas Event! If you’re new here, join us on Facebook and Pinterest. Now let’s give Amber from Crazy Little Projects a big welcome! We’re so happy to have you guest posting!

Hey there! This is Amber from Crazy Little Projects here to be part of the Crazy Christmas Event. (Fitting since I am all about all things Crazy!) At this time of year I am always torn-I love Thanksgiving a lot, but I am also antsy to get going on the Christmas fun. So I admit, the Christmas baking and treat making has begun at my house. Today I am sharing a Chocolate Mint Fudge recipe:

The bottom layer is chocolate, the top layer is mint and it’s sprinkled with mini chips. It’s amazing!

I took this to all of my neighbors last year and it was a hit!

Let’s get cooking!

By the way-I’ve also go Peanut Butter Fudge on the blog and Coconut is coming soon!

Ingredients:

For the chocolate bottom layer:

  • 2 C Sugar
  • 11 large marshmallows
  • 3/4 can of evaporated milk
  • 1 pkg. milk chocolate chips (just a regular size)
  • 1 stick butter

Mint Layer:

  • 2 C Sugar
  • 11 large marshmallows
  • 3/4 can of evaporated milk
  • 1 pkg. white chocolate chips (just a regular size) I really recommend Guittard brand-they melt the best
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • green food coloring
  • 1 stick butter
  • Mini chocolate chips

Directions:

For the chocolate bottom layer:

Combine the sugar, marshmallows and milk in a large pan. Heat it and bring it to a soft boil. Boil (soft boil) for 6 minutes. *Be careful here. It likes to spit while it boils and I have a nasty burn on my arm to prove it. Wear long sleeves, use your biggest pan, just be careful!

Turn off the heat. Add chocolate chips and butter and stir until completely combined.

Pour into well greased 8 x 8 inch pan.

Place in refrigerator for several hours until completely set. Then proceed to mint layer.

Mint Layer:

Cook the same way that you did for your bottom layer. Add you peppermint extract and food coloring when you are adding the chips and butter. Use as much or as little green food coloring as you want to make it pretty.

Pour on top of your bottom layer and let it sit for 10-15 minutes till it is slightly cooled but not set, then sprinkle with mini chips and put in fridge.

It can also be frozen.

Slice and enjoy!

Your neighbors and friends are going to love you if you share this!
