Holiday – Homemade Plate {CCC}

Hello, my friends!

My name is Alison, and my blogging home is Oopsey Daisy.

I absolutely adore Jamielyn, so I am thrilled to be a part of her Crazy Christmas Crafters series.

I am definitely a crazy crafter all year round–but even more so at Christmas time! Tis the season!

Recently, I dressed up a homemade plate for the holidays…

I think Santa would be proud!

I added a little spray paint, a little chevron, and a little ho-ho-ho!

{ Chevron Homemade Plate}

I started with an extra plate I had at home. Nothing too fancy.

I cut a chevron stencil out of contact paper. I have tried several stenciling methods, but I always love contact paper the best!

(This time, I used clear contact paper, so it may be a little difficult to see!)

I am infamous for my “oopsey daisies.” Just to be sure my spray paint wouldn’t bleed, I used masking tape to tape the edges.

Am I the only one who holds their breath when painting over a stencil?

I gave the plate a couple of coats of red spray paint.

This is my favorite part: Peeling away the contact paper!

Red and white chevron is the new candy cane stripe! :)

I found this “ho ho ho” image (ho_ho_ho_C00654_23067 in the Silhouette library) and cut it out of vinyl on my Silhouette machine. I applied it using transfer tape.

You could also stencil your own words or image on top of the chevron.

Dear Santa, this is where you will find your cookies on Christmas Eve!

Just a few more days until I can display this plate with my Christmas decor!

Jamielyn, thank you so much for having me here! I hope you enjoy a holly jolly crafting season!

I hope you will stop by Oopsey Daisy and say hello!

    Alison – I love this! Are you able to eat off of this plate now that you spray painted it and put vinyl on it? Or is there some sort of “seal” to make it food-safe?

    The plate is very cute! What is contact paper? Can it be bought at Michaels? I’ve never used it and am unfamiliar with it or where to find it. Tips would be welcome! Thanks.

      You can find contact paper in a roll at Wal-Mart next to shelf liners. I hope this helps!!
