So I’ve been looking for a desk forEVER and I finally found one on craigslist for 30 bucks!
Granted it looked a lot better online then when we picked it up, I knew it had potential! I wanted a corner desk (room saver) and every one I saw was at least 500. No thanks! So with a little work I think it turned out just perfect!
Told you it was in BAD shape. My neighbor was like what in the world…haha!
First things first is to SANDDD! Electric sander…yes please!
Then I wiped it all down and gave it a good coat of primer and then 2 coats of black paint. I used my paint sprayer of course-such a time saver! For more details on painting check out my kitchen post. I was to lazy to sand in b/w each coat of paint, but I think it will be fine!
We took off all the hardware, and I gave them 2 coats of heirloom white spray paint.
OH YES and we tore off that nasty backing and put on some leftover bead board from the kitchen. Yes we glued pieces together. haha!

Now it’s time to move all my craft stuff out of the closet/all over the house and into the desk!

Wow! Awesome makeover!! I know what you mean about corner desks >..< ) and need a fair amount of tlc, but a good cleaning and putting them back together was all I could manage. And truthfully… you can't see it beneath the mountain of craft supplies piled on top anyhow ;) LoL When the time comes for me to move to a different place ( and hopefully have a separate room for working ) I'm keeping this makeover in mind !!

This looks awesome. How do you protect it from scratching? I have a desk almost just like this I would love to paint – but I’m afraid it will look bad after regular use from scratching/chipping. Would love your tips!

Hi LouAnn! I used a polycrylic spray paint by Minwax on this piece, but you could also use furniture wax to protect it as well. Mine has held up great! :)
