Let the Crazy Christmas Crafts begin!! I’m SOO excited about this post today! I’m going to show you how to make an advent calendar … I absolutely LOVE how it turned out! I will have this for years to come and my kids already cant wait for the count down.
This advent calendar comes from the one and only SILHOUETTE company. And lucky for you they’re hooking up all naptime readers with a TEN dollar off coupon code. To get your very own {limited addition} advent calendar go here and enter NAPTIME as the promo code.
The advent calendar comes with ALL the downloads to print and cut the exact size boxes for your advent calendar. You can personalize it however you’d like with different colored/patterned paper, ribbons and embellishments. I’m proud to say the only thing I purchased were the numbers. I love using up my scrapbook paper {I have way too much}!
Want to make one? Let’s get started…
{ make an advent calendar }
The first thing I did was pull up the designs in The Silhouette Studio. Remember when you order the advent calendar it comes with over 50 free downloads to make different size boxes. Once my box was cut, I folded on the dotted lines and glued it together. In the end I just used hot glue… it was much faster! This part does take awhile… but I found that folding one box while the other is cutting makes it go by way faster!
Then for the numbers I wanted something a little more unique. I found these game pieces from Jo-Ann’s that were perfect (make sure to bring a coupon)! If you don’t have one local you can find them here:Advantus Idea Ology Game Pieces 90/Pkg. I loved the pieces… but they weren’t quite the EXACT look I was going for. So I lightly glued them down to a piece of paper (so they didn’t fly away) and spray painted them with Textured Metallic.
I also found that making the boxes as you go helps see what colors/patterns look good together. Once all the boxes were finished I cut out shapes (It’s a .99cent download for 7 of the most adorable shapes, search: 7 labels in the Silhouette Studio) using my scrap pieces. I glued my numbers on the shapes and embellished my boxes with ribbon, ric rac and twine.
I L-O-V-E how they turned out! Don’t you just love spray paint?! It works miracles!!
Fill all your boxes with candy or fun activities and your all set! Is it too early to keep it out?! {winks}
If you’d like to get your hands on this limited edition advent calendar… head to the Silhouette Shop and grab one before they’re gone. Use code NAPTIME for a $10 off discount!
So who’s already started holiday crafting?! November is the PERFECT time!

One stumble onto a wreath has lead me to you & I’m in LOVE with the site as well as this project! :) I would love to make this, but I don’t have a Silhouette machine. I only have a Cricut as I’m a scrapper who is just now starting to venture out into more crafts :) Do you think I could make the boxes on that without the download?? Thx for sharing!
Dee
I hope you will link this up to The cSI Project on Wednesday or Thursday. The challenge is Advent Calendars,.
