Reindeer Pancakes

These easy reindeer pancakes are a fun Christmas breakfast tradition that your kids will love! Made in just 15 minutes, this recipe is simple, delicious and a festive way to celebrate the season.

Easy Christmas Reindeer Pancakes

Today I have some adorably cute reindeer pancakes for you! We make both these and my elf on the shelf pancakes every year on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning (usually for a Christmas breakfast or lunch). They’re also a fun Elf on the Shelf idea.

The kids absolutely love them and always look forward to enjoying this fun holiday tradition at the breakfast table.

What’s great about these Rudolph pancakes is there is hardly any work required to make them extra special. All you need is a box of pancake mix and a few simple toppings which I bet you already have in the fridge and pantry. Then let your little ones help you prepare the pancakes and decorate them to look like reindeer!

Making Rudolph Pancakes

  • Batter. First you’ll want to prepare the batter according to the instructions on the box of your pancake mix. If you’d prefer a from scratch version, feel free to make homemade buttermilk pancakes or make a DIY pancake mix to have on hand all season long.
  • Cook. Once the batter is ready, it’s time to cook the pancakes on the griddle (or in a large skillet on the stove). You’ll want to make 6 medium oval shaped pancakes (for the faces) and 12 small oval shaped pancakes (for the ears). Cook until the pancakes have bubbles, then flip until each side is lightly browned and cooked through.
  • Decorate. Place two of the small oval shaped pancakes (ears) on top of the large oval to form the reindeer face. Then add two bacon pieces in the top center of the head for antlers. For the eyes, you can either use blueberries or marshmallows (cut in half) with a chocolate chip in the center. A cherry or raspberry works great to finish off the red nosed reindeer!

These Christmas reindeer pancakes are a fun holiday breakfast tradition that your kids will love! Made in just 15 minutes, this recipe is easy, delicious and a festive way to celebrate the season.

Ingredients 

  • 32 ounces pancake mix (enough for 12 servings, use your favorite kind)
  • 6 pieces bacon (cooked)
  • 6 cherries
  • 12 chocolate chips
  • 6 marshmallows (large)

For serving: Syrup, whipped cream, powdered sugar

    Instructions

    • Make pancakes according to directions. Cook the pancakes on a greased griddle over medium heat. You’ll want to make 6 medium oval shaped pancakes and 12 small oval shaped pancakes. I used a 1/4 cup measuring cup to pour the batter onto the pan so I could shape the ears and face. You could also pour the batter into a zip top bag and cut off the top. The shapes don’t have to be perfect. Cook until lightly browned on each side and then remove to a plate.

    • Place two little pancakes on top of a bigger one to form the face. Then place two pieces of bacon on top on the head for the antlers. For the eyes, I cut a large marshmallow in half and then stuck a chocolate chip in the middle. Then I put a cherry on top for the nose. Top with syrup and enjoy!

    Note: For a healthier alternative, you may use blueberries for the eyes and a raspberry for the nose.
