Easy guacamole recipe

Love this easy guacamole recipe that tastes like it came straight from a Mexican restaurant. The flavor is hard to beat!

One of my FAVORITE appetizers to get (or make) is guacamole. My husband and kids aren’t a huge fan of guacamole (they’re missing out), so I usually only order it when I’m out with my friends. I also love bringing it to BBQ and get togethers with friends.

MY OTHER RECIPES

I’ve shared one of my favorite guacamole recipes  in the past, but lately I’ve been making it a little different and had to share with you! A few months ago I went to the yummiest Mexican restaurant where they served the guacamole topped with cilantro, red onion and cotija cheese. I absolutely loved it and have been craving it ever since. I finally recreated the recipe at home. It’s so simple to make and always a crowd pleaser.

Ingredients for guacamole

Find the printable recipe below.

  • 5 ripe avocados
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1/2 lime, juiced
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 Tablespoon cotija or feta cheese
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Tips for finding the perfect avocados

Find the perfect ripe avocado, by popping off the stem. You want a nice yellow-green color for a perfectly ripe avocado. It should also be soft, not hard when you press on it.

Guacamole ingredients

You can omit the cheese if you don’t have any on hand, but give it a try with it… it’s so yummy! I also love the flavor that the lemon and lime mixed gives.

BEST guacamole recipe

Mmm… now after writing this post I’m craving it again. Thinking I need to head to the store tonight to pick up the ingredients to make some more.
