Easy Eggnog French Toast Recipe
Eggnog French toast is always on rotation in our house during the Christmas season. If you love my French bread French toast , this festive version is a fun way to switch things up for holiday mornings.
Made with eggnog, cinnamon, and nutmeg, it’s rich, cozy, and surprisingly simple to make. The eggnog adds just enough seasonal flavor without overpowering the classic French toast taste.
I also love this recipe for using up leftover eggnog after baking holiday treats like eggnog cookies. It’s an easy, no-waste way to turn a holiday staple into a cozy breakfast everyone looks forward to.

Ingredient Notes
No complicated ingredients needed for this recipe. Just use your leftover eggnog and other simple pantry staples to get started.
- Eggnog: The best way to use leftover homemade eggnog.
- Custard mixture: Eggs, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, vanilla extract and salt.
- Warm spices: Ground cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Bread: I use my brioche bread recipe but any thick bread like challah, sourdough, French bread or thick sliced sandwich bread works, too.
- Butter: For greasing the skillet.

How to Make Eggnog French Toast
- Combine eggnog mixture: Add eggnog, flour, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a blender and pulse until smooth. You can also whisk together the ingredients in a bowl until smooth.
- Dip bread into mixture, then cook: Dip the thick bread into the eggnog mixture and flip evenly to coat. Then place the bread on a buttered griddle (preheated to 350°F) or buttered skillet over medium-high heat. Cook for 2 minutes per side, or until lightly golden brown.
- Serve and enjoy: Serve immediately with all your favorite toppings. Enjoy!

To Keep Warm for a Crowd
If making a big batch for a crowd, you can easily keep this dish warm by popping it in the oven. Simply transfer the cooked eggnog french toast to a baking sheet and place in the oven at 175°F until ready to serve. This helps keep it warm, but won’t dry it out.

I made 1/2 a batch for three of us. I am not an eggnog lover but this recipe is a treat. It is a “keeper” as they say. I served it with fresh mixed berries and warm maple syrup. Very easy to make. Thank you!

This looks so good. French toast is a favorite of my Dad’s, so for the Christmas season, me & my Mom should make this for him. I have to say, anything egg-nog or french toast for me is a winner, but combine them both and boom.
