Easy Funfetti Cake Dip

This funfetti dip recipe is one of my kid’s favorite treats. It’s light, fluffy and full of that yummy cake mix flavor. Some of their other top picks are cake batter popcorn, fruity pebbles treats, rainbow cupcakes and jello cookies.

It is perfect for birthday parties, an afternoon snack or late night dessert. It has all the delicious flavors of a confetti cake with less calories. Both kids and adults will love it!

For dipping, we love to use fresh fruit like sliced apples or strawberries. This confetti cake dip also tastes amazing served with graham crackers. It reminds me of dunkaroo dip…and who didn’t love that growing up? SO good!

Reasons We Love This Dip

  • No-Bake: It’s a super easy no-bake dessert that will curb your sweet tooth without ever having to heat up the oven!
  • Quick: From start to finish, it’s made in just 5 minutes. It doesn’t get better than that.
  • Minimal ingredients: The base of the dip is made with just 5 simple ingredients (plus sprinkles, if you have them on hand!)
  • Kid-friendly: Your little ones will go crazy over this recipe, especially if they love the famous dunkaroos dip!

Ingredients for Funfetti Dip

  • Cream cheese: This key ingredient will make your funfetti dip nice and creamy. Make sure the cream cheese is softened. Learn how to soften cream cheese quickly.
  • Cool whip: Make sure to thaw the whipped topping first. Learn how to make cool whip from scratch with a few simple ingredients.
  • Funfetti cake mix: This is what gives that dip that yummy funfetti flavor. Add more to taste.
  • Milk: You don’t need a lot – just enough to thin the dip out a little so that it’s not super thick. Add in small increments until your desired consistency is met.
  • Vanilla: A dash of pure vanilla extract will help boost the flavor of the funfetti cake batter dip.
  • Sprinkles: These are optional, but I love the color and crunch that rainbow sprinkles add. So fun for any occasion.

Using Raw Cake Mix

If you are concerned about the raw flour in your cake mix package, feel free to heat treat it first like I do with my brownie batter dip recipe. This will kill any bacteria in the flour.

Pour the cake mix into a microwave safe bowl and cook in microwave in 30 second increments (stirring in between). Once the flour reaches 165°F, it is safe to use. Make sure to let it cool completely before making the funfetti dip!

How to Make Funfetti Cake Dip

  1. Mix. Using an electric hand mixer, blend together the softened cream cheese and dry cake mix in a large bowl until smooth. Pour in the milk and add a small dash of vanilla extract. Mix until creamy.
  2. Fold. Use a spatula to fold the cool whip into the mixture. At this point you can also fold in the sprinkles if adding. Taste and add more cake mix if needed. If the mixture is too thick, feel free to add a bit more milk to thin it out.
  3. Serve. Transfer the dip into a serving bowl and add a few more sprinkles on top. Then serve with your favorite dippers! Check out a few of my favorite dipping ideas below.
