Game Day Snacks for the Win

There is nothing quite like Super Bowl Sunday. Aside from the football, I love all the great food that goes along with watching the game, including wings, dips, meatballs, sliders, charcuterie boards, and so much more.

Anything that can feed a hungry crowd of cheering fans is perfect for game day, and I love to offer a variety Super Bowl appetizers to keep everyone’s energy up.

Thankfully, there are a lot of winning Super Bowl food ideas to choose from, such as the fan-favorite of baked chicken wings, the surprise play of white bean hummus, or the touchdown of meatball sliders. Go team!

Planning Super Bowl Party Foods

When planning a Super Bowl party, I like to start by choosing what appetizers I am going to serve. Some things I keep in mind when making my menu are:

  • Amount needed. How many guests are coming? Adults? Kids? I like to serve 1 appetizer per 3-4 people coming. So if there are 12 people coming I’ll typically make 4 Super Bowl appetizers (or better yet, have everyone bring something to share).
  • Variety. I love to offer a lot of options so everyone has something they love to eat. This means I choose different proteins, textures, spice levels, temperatures, and flavors.
  • Temperature. I try to balance the amount of hot dishes I have to cold dishes, just to give a bit more variety.
  • Serving location. This is an important question to consider. If I have a bigger party, I will typically set up a buffet-style serving table with maybe one dip on the coffee table in front of the TV. For smaller parties, I might simply put items in serving bowls and put all the Super Bowl appetizers on the coffee table.
  • Effort. I want to watch the game, too, so I like to choose things I can make ahead of time or won’t keep me running around too much during play time.
  • Tastes. I always try to consider what my guests can and like to eat when choosing an array of dishes. That way, I know there is at least one dish for everyone, if possible.

Super Bowl Finger Foods

There is nothing better than an easy-to-eat appetizer while watching the big game. From sliders to potato skins, these are my favorite Super Bowl finger foods on game day.

chicken wings
  • Baked Chicken Wings. So simple and yet so delicious. Coat them in your favorite sauce and watch them disappear.
  • Teriyaki Chicken Wings. Just 5 minutes of prep to make a tangy and addictive appetizer.
  • Crispy Buffalo Wings. Baked and covered in Buffalo sauce these crispy wings will disappear fast!
  • Jalapeno Poppers. These bacon-wrapped poppers are a fan favorite when it comes to Super Bowl appetizers and they only need 5 ingredients.
  • Potato Skins. Crips potatoes topped with melted cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon? Yes, please.
  • Pigs in a Blanket. These mini hot dogs wrapped in fluffy crescent rolls are ready in just 20 minutes.
  • Cheeseburger Sliders. These mini burgers are genius way to serve a crowd of hungry fans.
  • Meatball Sliders. Who can resist a slider made with Hawaiian rolls, meatballs, marinara, and mozzarella?
  • Ham and Cheese Sliders on Hawaiian Rolls. It doesn’t get better or easier than these tasty sliders. Plus, the kids love them.
  • Oven Baked Nachos. A skillet of the best nachos in just under 20 minutes is what I call a touchdown.
  • Easy Homemade Pretzel Bites. Just like being at the real game, but in miniature form. Don’t forget the homemade pretzel cheese dip.
  • Caprese Kabobs. I love these quick bites of mozzarella, basil, and tomato to counter some of the richer Super Bowl appetizers.
  • Easy Pizza Pinwheels. Kids and adults alike love these simple and flavor-packed pinwheels.
  • Bacon Wrapped Smokies. Just 3 ingredients to make an appetizer big on taste.
  • Cheeseburger Meatballs. These little skewers make it easy to enjoy a cheeseburger in just one bite.
  • Pizza Sliders. No one can resist this version of sliders with melty cheese, pepperoni and sauce!
  • Bacon Wrapped Dates. The perfect balance of sweet and savory in just 3 ingredients.
  • Bruschetta Caprese. The freshness of tomatoes helps cut some of the heavier appetizers.
  • Creamy Baked Chicken Taquitos. I make these for dinner all the time, but I love serving them as hearty Super Bowl appetizers.
  • Kielbasa Puffs. These need only 2 ingredients and 20 minutes to make.
  • Cheese Ball Bites. I consider this the perfect bite of all the cheese ball goodness.
  • Mixed Candied Nuts. Such an addictive and sweet snack for a table.
  • Homemade Chex Mix. Such a simple snack that I love to have on the table for when guests arrive.
  • Veggie Pizza. Made with a crescent roll base, cream cheese spread and then topped with veggies, this appetizer is a classic that always goes!

Easy Super Bowl Dips

I love dips! They are easy Super Bowl appetizers to make and even better to eat. I love serving them with a variety of crackers or vegetables to let my guests choose their own bite.
