Bone-in, skin on chicken pieces Olive oil Smoked paprika Salt and pepper BBQ sauce

Season the chicken

Pat chicken dry with a paper towel and add the pieces to a large bowl. Coat the olive oil and seasoning and toss the chicken.

Sear chicken skin

Place chicken on grill over direct heat and grill uncovered 5-10 minutes.

Grill on indirect heat

Flip chicken and place over indirect heat (the cooler side of the grill). Reduce the heat to low or medium-low. Cover and grill for 20-30 minutes.

Baste chicken

Flip the chicken over and baste with the BBQ sauce. Cover and grill for another 15-20 minutes.

Finish cooking

Flip the chicken over once more and baste the other side. Cover and cook for the last 10-30 minutes.

Time and Temperature

Timing will depend on size of  chicken pieces and range from 10-30 minutes. Bone-in will take longer than boneless. Chicken is ready when it reaches 165°F.
