Cream sugar

Cream together butter, sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer. Add eggs and vanilla and beat just until smooth.

Dry ingredients

Add in flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda and cream of tartar. Stir just until smooth. Chill for 30 minutes if desired.

Cinnamon sugar

In a small bowl, stir together remaining sugar and cinnamon. Roll the dough into balls and then roll into the cinnamon sugar.

Bake

Place onto the baking sheet, about 2 inches apart and bake 9-11 minutes. Cool 5 minutes on pan.
