These easy croffles are a croissant waffle with flaky, buttery layers and a crisp exterior from a waffle iron! All you need are crescent roll dough, sugar and desired toppings.
Ingredients
8ouncecrescent rolls, I used Pillsbury
2-3Tablespoonssugar , for rolling (optional)
non stick spray
For serving: Syrup, Fresh berries, powdered sugar
Instructions
Preheat your waffle iron.
Roll out the 8 ounce tube of crescent rolls and add 1/4 cup of fillings if desired. Then roll up the larger side down of the dough down to the smallest side (see photo in post for visual) and roll in sugar.
Place the crescents or thawed croissant into the waffle iron. Cook for 3 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve with desired toppings like syrup, fresh fruit, and powdered sugar.
Notes
Dough: You can also use frozen mini croissants (I find these at Traders Joes) and defrost them. Another option is using puff pastry and cut it into triangles to roll it up. Filling: You can try adding 1/4 cup or less of Nutella, peanut butter or mascropone with thinly diced fruit to the middle before rolling the dough and cooking as well. A savory options such as brie, prosciutto, and jam would be great too.Storage: Store in a covered container in the refrigerator up to 3 days of freeze up to 3 months. Reheat in a toaster oven or microwave until warm.
