These orange creamsicle cookies are soft and sweet with bright orange flavor, white chocolate chips and a simple orange glaze. They taste just like the classic frozen treat in cookie form.
2Tablespoonsorange zest(the zest of about 2 oranges)
1cupwhite chocolate chips
Orange Glaze
1 /2cup powdered sugar
1Tablespoonsalted butter, melted
1 ½Tablespoonsorange juice
1Tablespoonorange zest
Instructions
Preheat and prepare: Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together 2 1/2 cups flour, 3/4 teaspoon baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
In a large mixing bowl, add 1 cup butter, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Cream for 2-3 minutes using a hand mixer, until light and fluffy. Add 1 egg, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and 1 teaspoon orange extract. Beat until smooth.
Add dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Don't over mix. Fold in 2 Tablespoons orange zest and 1 cup white chocolate chips.
Using medium cookie scoop or a heaping tablespoon, drop dough on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes on the cookie sheet before transferring to a cooling rack.
In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1 Tablespoon melted butter, 1 1/2 Tablespoons orange juice, and 1 Tablespoon orange zest.
Pour glaze into a zip-top baggie. Cut off the tip of one corner and drizzle over the cookies.
Notes
