Strawberry tiramisu is a no-bake dessert made with classic ladyfinger cookies dipped in homemade strawberry syrup layered with creamy mascarpone and fresh strawberries!
Strawberry Tiramisu Recipe
Strawberry tiramisu is one of my favorite no bake desserts to make in the summer. It’s a fresh strawberry twist on the classic Italian dessert but without caffeine, liquor, or raw eggs.
This is a layered dessert much like no-bake strawberry icebox cake and strawberry lasagna, made with dipped lady fingers, mascarpone, and homemade strawberry jam, ready in under an hour!
Why I Love This Recipe
- It’s easy to make for a summer gathering.
- It’s a no-bake dessert which is great for making ahead of time. The longer it sits the better it tastes!
Ingredients Notes
Find the full printable recipe with specific measurements below.
- Ladyfingers: A traditional cookie used in a classic tiramisu. I use the Italian Savoiardi brand, which are crisp, but once soaked in strawberry sauce, they soften to a cake-like texture.
- Fresh strawberries: Wash your strawberries with the stem on them so they absorb less water. Dry them completely! Then, chop and discard the stems.
- Mascarpone: This is a mild, slightly sweet, creamy cheese and a key ingredient in any tiramisu. Don’t skip it!
How to Make Strawberry Tiramisu
In a medium mixing bowl, beat the mascarpone with the heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, and lemon zest for 2 minutes until thick and creamy like whipped cream.
Dip each of the lady fingers, one at a time, into the mixture of jam, lemon juice, and water. Then, lay them down in a single layer into an 8×8 baking dish.
Spread half of the creamy filling over the lady fingers and top that with half of the sliced strawberries.
Repeat the layers with another layer of dipped ladyfingers, mascarpone mixture, and strawberries. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and keep it refrigerated for at least 8 hours.
Recipe Tips
- I use an 8×8 square baking dish, but you can use anything similar in size.
- Double the recipe for a larger sized dish (or a bigger crowd).
- Use crisp ladyfingers, not the sponge ones. They absorb the juices without getting soggy.

Substitutions and Variations
- Top with extra fresh berries like blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries.
- You can also top with white chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder or powdered sugar.
- If you don’t want to make homemade jam, use your favorite store-bought jar of strawberry preserves.
- For the mascarpone cream, using orange zest is a nice alternative to the lemon zest.
Recipe FAQs
Cover any leftover cake with plastic wrap or slice it up and keep the slices in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
The first thing is to make sure you’re using the right ones. They should be crispy and pretty hard, not soft and cakey. The second thing is, when you’re dipping them in whatever liquid, they shouldn’t be soaked. A quick dip to coat both sides is all that is needed.
I wouldn’t. It’s a different flavor and texture and will alter the results of your strawberry tiramisu dessert. Reserve the cream cheese for your strawberry cream pie!
