- Strawberry pie filling: You’ll need 2 cans of pie filling for this recipe.
- Cream cheese, large egg, granulated sugar: Combined, this makes the creamy cheesecake topping that gets dolloped across the top.
- Boxed yellow cake mix and salted butter: For the buttery, crisp cake topping.
- For serving: Fresh strawberries, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream. Any or all!
How to Make Strawberry Cheesecake Dump Cake
Spread two cans of strawberry pie filling evenly across the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish.
In a bowl, beat together cream cheese, egg, and sugar until smooth, then dollop the mixture over the strawberries.

Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly on top, followed by melted butter poured over the surface. Add nuts if desired, then bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 35–45 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Let it rest for about 15 minutes before serving, and top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if you like.

Recipe Tips
- Top with chopped nuts for added crunch. Pecans or walnuts are great.
- Layer cream cheese mixture in my easy cherry dump cake or blueberry dump cake to make a cheesecake version with different flavors.
- Bring the cream cheese to room temperature so it’s soft enough to cream nicely for a smooth cheesecake layer.
- Drizzle the melted butter evenly so you don’t end up with dry patches of cake mix.
- Let the strawberry dump cheesecake rest for a few minutes to set before serving.
Serving Suggestions
A strawberry cheesecake dump cake isn’t fussy at all. It’s just as delicious cold straight out of the fridge at midnight as it is warm after dinner!
You could eat it as is, or serve it with a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream on top, or swap the ice cream for a helping of my whipped cream recipe. I wouldn’t say no to a drizzle of chocolate sauce either!

Delicious! I’ve tried many dump cakes in the past, but never a cheesecake version. I love strawberries and cheesecake, so having the 2 come together in this dump cake may make it my newest favorite dump cake. – Alisha, recipe tester
