Winter Fruit Salad Recipe

This fresh and colorful winter fruit salad is one of my go-to side dishes when citrus and crisp fruit are in season. It’s lightly tossed in a simple honey citrus dressing, making it refreshing, easy to prepare, and perfect for both holiday meals and everyday dinners.

  • Clementines: I love using clementines for their sweetness and easy peeling, but fresh diced oranges work just as well. Drained canned mandarin oranges will also work.
  • Apples: Crisp apples like Honeycrisp hold their shape and add a nice crunch. Any firm, sweet apple will work here.
  • Pear: Choose a ripe but firm pear so it stays juicy without becoming mushy once mixed with the dressing.
  • Kiwi: Kiwi adds a bright pop of color and a slightly tart contrast that balances the sweeter fruits.
  • Pomegranate arils: These add a little crunch and color. Fresh arils are best, but store-bought containers are a great time saver.
  • Citrus honey dressing: The honey, orange, and lime gently coat the fruit without overpowering it. Lemon juice can be used in place of lime if needed.

How to Make Winter Fruit Salad

To start, prep all of the fruit and add it to a large serving bowl. Keep the pieces bite-sized and similar in size so everything mixes evenly and is easy to serve.

Next, whisk together the honey, citrus juices, and zest in a small bowl until smooth. This light dressing should taste bright and lightly sweet, not heavy.

Drizzle the dressing over the fruit and gently toss until everything is evenly coated. Be careful not to overmix so the fruit keeps its shape.

For best flavor, refrigerate the fruit salad until ready to serve. It’s freshest within the first day, making it perfect for prepping ahead.
