Easy Halloween Witch Hat Cookies
I love fun no-bake Halloween treats like these witch hat cookies! They double as a craft and a snack, just like my haunted Halloween gingerbread house and they’re perfect for school classroom parties or get-togethers where kids can decorate their own while sipping on a cup of witches brew.
If you’re planning a full Halloween spread, add a few more spooky favorites like Halloween Rice Krispie treats and white chocolate strawberry ghosts for a party that’s as fun to make as it is to eat!
Recipe Ingredients
Find the full printable recipe with directions.
- Fudge striped cookies: Keebler is the classic choice, but any store-bought brand will work, just look for cookies that are flat on both sides so the kisses stick easily.
- Frosting: To keep it simple, I use store-bought vanilla frosting tinted orange. You can also make a batch of homemade buttercream frosting if you prefer.
- Hershey’s Kisses: Milk chocolate is my favorite, but feel free to use your favorite variety — dark chocolate, caramel-filled, or even pumpkin spice are all fun options!
- Sprinkles: Use festive Halloween colors like orange, black, or purple. Nonpareils or small round sprinkles tend to stick best to the frosting without sliding off.
How to Make Witch Hat Cookies
Dip the bottom of one Hershey kiss into the orange frosting, going up the sides of the kiss just a tad.
Place the sprinkles into a small bowl. Then, dip the kiss into the sprinkles and place over the hole of the non-striped side of the cookie. That’s it, such an easy Halloween treat!
Recipe Tips
- If you need more frosting around the edge of the kiss, add some to a piping bag (or a small plastic bag with the corner snipped off) and pipe a neat ring around the chocolate kiss before adding sprinkles.
- If my kids are helping, I like to put the sprinkles on a baking sheet to contain the sprinkles.
- Store witch hat cookies in an airtight container for up to a week. If you need to stack cookies, place parchment paper between layers.
- These are so cute and go well with other Halloween treats like Halloween chocolate brownies.
More easy Halloween desserts: Nutty Butter mummy cookies, peanut butter spider cookies, Halloween sugar cookies and Halloween Oreo balls.

Variations
- Cookie type. Any fudge stripe cookie works for this Halloween cookie idea as does Oreos and chocolate covered Oreos.
- Peanut butter cookies. Use my recipe for classic peanut butter blossoms and pipe orange frosting around the chocolate kiss and add sprinkles.
- Instead of orange frosting: Use orange Wilton candy melts that have been melted or use a variety of colors like yellow, green and purple. You can even use a store bought tube frosting to make it even easier.
- Mini M&Ms: If you would like your witch hat cookie to have a buckle you can add a mini M&M. Use a dab of frosting or gel food coloring to attach it to the kiss.
