Creamy Bacon Ranch Dip
This bacon cheddar ranch dip with cream cheese is rich, creamy, and completely addictive. Sour cream, ranch seasoning, sharp cheddar, and crispy bacon round it out, like my crock pot crack chicken and crack chicken chili but dippable.
It’s also ridiculously easy. While I love potato skins, they take real time. This one is the perfect party appetizer for a Super Bowl spread, holidays, potlucks, and parties.
Recipe Ingredients

- Cream cheese: The cream cheese gives the dip a really creamy texture. Make sure it is at room temperature.
- Sour cream: This helps lighten the cream cheese and give the dip a smoother texture.
- Cheddar cheese: I like to use cheddar cheese because it pairs so well with the bacon and ranch.
- Ranch seasoning: This dry ranch dressing mix gives the dip its flavor boost.
- Bacon: Cooked, crumbly bacon adds a nice crunch and saltiness to the dip.
How to Make Bacon Cheddar Ranch Dip
In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Starting with both at room temperature is the trick to a smooth, lump-free dip, cold cream cheese stays stubborn and clumps no matter how long you mix. Add the ranch seasoning and cheddar, then mix until well blended.

For the best flavor, cover and chill the dip for at least 20 minutes before serving. It gives the ranch time to bloom and the flavors to set, and it really does make a difference.

When ready to serve, place the dip in a serving bowl and top with crumbled bacon, shredded cheese, and sliced green onions. Serve with your favorite vegetables (like carrots, broccoli, and celery) and crackers.

Tips and Variations
- Bacon in the oven. While you could use bacon bits for convenience, trust me when I say that cooking fresh bacon in the oven is the way to go for crispier results.
- Spice. To add a little heat, add a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce or mix in a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. Chopped jalapenos would also be a delicious addition (just make sure to remove the seeds first!).
- Crunch. Mix in 1/4 cup sliced almonds or chopped pecans for crunch, like in my bacon ranch cheese ball.
- Add-ins. Add some chopped tomato and lettuce on top for a BLT dip!
Serving Suggestions
This bacon cheddar ranch dip is a favorite for parties and game days. Serve it on a platter with crackers, fresh veggies, potato chips, or tortilla chips. Pretzels, Fritos, and crostini toasts all work great too.

This is a fabulous dip! I served it for our Christmas Eve buffet and it was loved by everyone! I used low fat cream cheese, and light sour cream with the ranch seasoning. No salt needed! A sturdy chip or veggies are needed since this is a thicker dip. Sooo good!
