Cherry Banana Smoothie

Whipping up easy smoothie recipes is one of my favorite ways to pack tons of nutrients into a refreshing drink, whether it’s for breakfast, after a workout, or as a quick snack. This banana cherry smoothie is whip up making it one I reach for again and again!

Using frozen fruit gives this cherry smoothie recipe a creamy texture, just like other favorites such as a strawberry banana smoothie and pina colada smoothie. Frozen fruit is picked and frozen at peak ripeness, which means your smoothie blends up extra thick and full of fresh, vibrant flavor anytime of the year.

Ingredients Notes

  • Almond milk: I use unsweetened almond milk to allow for the natural sweetness of the fruit to do its thing. It’s also thinner than regular milk, which I like because the bananas thicken it enough.
  • Frozen cherries and bananas: Frozen bananas add sweetness just in case you end up with extra tart cherries in your batch!
  • Almond extract: Almonds and cherries are a beautiful flavor combo.

How to Make a Banana Cherry Smoothie

Add all the ingredients to a blender, pouring the milk in first. Blend until smooth, then pour it into a glass. Enjoy your cherry banana smoothie right away!

Cherry Smoothie Add-Ins

  • Chia seeds or hemp seeds add an extra boost of nutrition and fiber.
  • Slivered almonds or a drizzle of nut butter for extra almond flavor!
  • Cacao nibs adds texture with a deep intense chocolate flavor.
  • If you like your smoothie sweeter add honey or pure maple syrup

Tips for the Best Creamy Smoothie

  • You can use fresh cherries if preferred. Just be sure to remove the pits first and then pop them in the freezer for a bit.
  • Non-dairy coconut milk can add some tropical flavor.
  • Swap the almond extract for vanilla extract if you prefer.
  • Instead of frozen bananas, try avocado. It’s a source of healthy fat and will keep it nice and creamy. You may want to add honey for sweetener if using avocado.
