Harry Potter Butterbeer
Earlier this year, we visited Universal Orlando. We absolutely loved Harry Potter World. I loved the whole atmosphere in Harry Potter World. My husband is a big Harry Potter fan so he was excited to go on all the rides. I could of stayed there all day and just shopped, while sipping butter beer of course.
The frozen version of Butterbeer was my favorite. It’s hard to describe how amazing it is while walking around the park, so of course I had to re-create this delicious treat at home for all of you to make. It is the perfect summer drink! If you like butterscotch flavoring, you will LOVE this frozen butterbeer recipe. It tastes like a butterscotch creamsicle.
Ingredients
- Vanilla ice cream (store bought or homemade)
- Butterscotch syrup or topping
- Cream soda
- Ice
How to Make Butterbeer
- Place all ingredients in a large blender.
- Blend together until smooth. If needed, add more ice to create desired consistency.
- Taste and add more butterscotch or a splash of vanilla if desired.
Serving Tips
Now for the fun part: serving the butterbeer! We served ours in these tall, glass mugs with a fun striped straw. Below are some helpful tips to consider before serving:
- Serve in cold glasses so the butterbeer doesn’t melt too fast. I stick mine in the freezer about 10 minutes prior to serving.
- For a fun look, try drizzling more butterscotch into the glass before pouring the drink in.
- If you’d like to recreate the frothy top, add some whipped cream and butterscotch syrup on top.
- You can even add a Tablespoon of butterscotch to the whipped cream for more delicious flavor.

Went to California for a week to celebrate me and my stepsisters birthday, a day before we left spent all day, from opening to closing at Universal. When we came back I definitely needed more pumpkin juice and especially, BUTTERBEER. This recipe helped me to continue my harry potter dream back home. Thank you for making it possible.

We are on a huge Harry Potter kick and this will be perfect to celebrate finishing book 2! Such an easy recipe!
just curious, can i put this in the freezer?
Hi Julia! I haven’t tried it before, but I think that should work just fine. It may just have a slightly different consistency than the original.
Great recipe! We used cream soda ice cubes (takes a day of prep) and whipped cream with 1T of butterscotch topping plus 3T of powdered sugar. So good!
What a great idea! Sounds delicious. Thanks for sharing!! :)

So glad your family enjoyed it :)
I made this tonight and it’s a hit! Instead of whipped cream I made marshmallow sauce for the top, that’s more what the stuff at universal tastes like to us! Anyway it’s a hot Friday night and we played wizards unite all day so I had to give it a go!
Sounds delicious! I’ll have to try a marshmallow sauce next time!
How did you make your marshmallow sauce?!
