Homemade Oreo Milkshake
A quick, simple Oreo milkshake is enough to make anyone’s day! Made with vanilla ice cream, milk, and Oreo cookies topped with whipped cream, this 3-ingredient shake can also be made with chocolate chips for extra chocolaty flavor!
If you love the flavors of Oreo ice cream cake but are craving a creamy milkshake, this cookies and cream shake is exactly what you need. On days when mint chocolate is what you crave, try a Chick-fil-A peppermint milkshake or this copycat shamrock shake.
Why I Love This Copycat Recipe
- It’s a thick, creamy, and delicious Chick-Fil-A Oreo shake ready in 10 minutes!
- Can be made with store-bought ingredients or homemade vanilla ice cream topped with simple whipped cream.
Ingredient Notes

Find the full printable recipe with specific measurements below.
- Vanilla ice cream: The amount of ice cream used is based on how thick you like your Oreo shake.
- Milk: The higher the fat content, the creamier the consistency. Whole milk or 2% is what I normally use, but use whatever milk you like.
- Oreo cookies: For both the cookies and cream shake and garnish.
- Chocolate chips: These are optional. We use semi-sweet chocolate chips. They give the shake a little extra chocolaty flavor and texture from the chips.
- Whipped topping: For the top and makes it feel ice cream shop worthy!
How to Make an Oreo Milkshake
Add the ice cream, milk, and Oreo cookies into a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Add in chocolate chips and pulse a few times.

Pour the cookies and cream milkshake directly from the blender into a tall milkshake glass and top it with extra crushed Oreos. Enjoy!

Shake Variations
- French vanilla ice cream is a tasty choice. Really any ice cream works!
- You could also swap the vanilla ice cream for chocolate ice cream.
- Vegan vanilla ice cream and almond milk are great non-dairy alternatives.
- Drizzle chocolate syrup over the whipped cream or inside the glass before pouring.
- The best milkshake always has a maraschino cherry on top.
Recipe Tips
- If you prefer a thick Oreo milkshake recipe, use more ice cream. If it’s too thick, add a splash more milk.
- You can also use Double Stuf Oreo cookies for a thicker, sweeter shake.
- Add a splash of vanilla extract for a shake that rivals any ice cream shoppe!
- While any blender will work, a high powered blender will make the process faster.
- Store your milkshake glasses in the freezer for a cool frosty presentation.
