Brownie Dip Recipe
I’m excited to share a dessert that’s been a hit in my kitchen – brownie batter dip. It combines the indulgence of brownies with the ease of an easy dessert dip!
This no-bake dessert is a perfect blend of rich chocolate flavors and creamy texture, plus it’s the safest way to eat brownie batter! As tempted as I am to eat the entire bowl myself, just like my cherry cheesecake dip, sharing makes it all the more fun.
Why I Love This Recipe
- Quick & easy: You use store-bought boxed brownie mix and Cool Whip for a speedy, hassle-free preparation.
- Versatile: Talk about an easy party dessert! Perfect for Valentine’s Day and birthday parties as well as family movie night.
Brownie Dip Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make this edible brownie batter dip recipe at home.
Find the full printable recipe with specific measurements below.
- Brownie mix: I prefer Ghirardelli or Duncan Hines for their rich chocolate flavor. Since brownie mix contains raw flour, we’re going to microwave it for a few seconds to make sure it’s safe to eat.
- Cream cheese: Room temperature softened cream cheese blends more smoothly.
- Cool Whip: Ensure whipped topping is at room temperature, to fold easily into the mix. Make your own homemade cool whip if you would like!
- Optional dip add-ins: Add some vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness. Mix-ins include mini chocolate chips, nuts, mini M&M candies, crushed pretzels or graham crackers. Peanut butter chips or white chocolate chips are great, too!
How to Make Brownie Batter Dip
To make the brownie mix safe for consumption, it needs to be heat treated in the microwave. Heat for 90 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds then cool.
Use a hand mixer to whip cream cheese in a medium to large mixing bowl until smooth.
Gently fold in the Cool Whip and cooled brownie mix. If using a mixer, mix lightly to avoid deflating the Cool Whip.
Refrigerate the dip until you’re ready to serve.
Recipe Tips and Variations
- Heat treat: Don’t skip this step! It won’t be safe to eat otherwise. A homemade brownie mix can be used, but ensure to heat treat it as well.
- Room temperature Ingredients: Make sure the cream cheese and Cool Whip are at room temperature. This ensures they blend smoothly, preventing lumps.
- Flavor variations: Add 2 Tablespoons of peanut butter, dark cocoa powder or some mint extract. Fold in some marshmallow fluff for an extra smooth dip.
- Make edible cookie dough: Serve side by side with the brownie mix dip for a brookie like combination!
- Serving temperature: Serve the dip chilled for the best texture and flavor.

Storage
Keep any leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. I don’t reccommend freezing leftovers as the dip texture will alter upon thawing.

I really loved this dip!!!! Do you think I can serve this after a week in the refrigerator?
I only recommend to refrigerate it up to 4 days for food safety reasons. Always check before eating it though if it has been in storage longer than that.
I made this and added it to my cheeseboard. Went well with the fruits. Really good!
We loved dipping strawberries and bananas in this! SOO yummy and perfect for a party appetizer!
The perfect treat for my kids! I served this with pretzels and sliced apples. YUM!
Can I sub full fat Greek yogurt for some or all of the cream cheese or maybe the whipped cream?
I haven’t tested that but that should work. Let me know how it goes!
