Easy Pizza Dough without Yeast
It’s no secret my kids are obsessed with pizza night! We make homemade pizza almost every week, and this homemade pizza dough without yeast is our go-to whenever we’re out of yeast or just short on time. It never disappoints!
Other easy pizza night favorites include French pizza bread recipe, pizza muffins or pizza pinwheels with refrigerated crescents.
Why I Love This Recipe
- Perfect for when you don’t have yeast: No yeast pizza crust is made with only 4 ingredients and water; it’s so simple even the kids can help make it.
- Soft dough, crispy edges: It won’t be as fluffy as my pizza dough with active dry yeast, but the texture is tender with a satisfying chew and golden crisp edges.
- Totally versatile: Use whatever toppings you have on hand! Go classic with a homemade pepperoni pizza or switch things up with BBQ chicken pizza.
Only 4 Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: All-purpose flour, plain flour or bread flour can all be used.
- Baking powder: This is what will give your pizza rise without using yeast.
- Table or fine sea salt: Adds flavor.
- Olive oil: Keeps the dough moist so it’s not dry and crumbly.
How to Make Homemade Pizza Dough without Yeast
In a large bowl, stir together the dry ingredients, then pour in the oil and slowly add the water until a smooth dough forms. I like using a wooden spoon here, no stand mixer needed! Add just enough water to bring it together, you may not need the full cup.
Dust your counter with flour and roll the dough out to about 1/4-inch thick and 14 inches wide. I always use a pizza stone for the crispiest bottom, but a baking sheet works great too. Prefer personal pizzas? Divide it in half and make two 7-inch crusts instead!

Spread about 1/2 cup of sauce over the dough — this dough soaks up sauce quickly so don’t be shy with it. Then pile on your favorite toppings!
Bake at 415°F for 15 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly and the edges are crisp. Personal pizzas will be done closer to 12 minutes. Slice it up and dig in while it’s hot!

Tips for the Best Pizza Crust without Yeast
- Brush the edges with olive oil before baking. It keeps the crust from drying out and gives you that gorgeous golden brown color around the rim.
- For the crispiest crust, bake on a pizza stone or a perforated pizza pan. The holes allow heat to circulate underneath the dough and give you that crispy bottom. A regular baking sheet lined with parchment works too, just expect a slightly softer base.
- You can roll the dough out with a rolling pin or stretch it by hand like a classic pizza. Hand stretching gives you a more rustic, uneven crust that can help the crust rise better. Work from the center out and let gravity do some of the work.
- This dough tends to soak up sauce, so be generous with it and make sure the entire surface is well covered before adding your toppings.
- Add flavor to the dough itself by mixing in fresh herbs like rosemary, basil, or garlic powder. It makes a big difference!

No Yeast Pizza Dough Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour , plus more for the counter
- 1 Tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon table or fine sea salt
- 1 cup water
- 2 Tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil , divided
Optional toppings: Pizza sauce, shredded or sliced mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, fresh basil, pepperoni, sliced bell peppers, olives, sliced onion, mushrooms, Canadian bacon, pineapple
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 415°F. Pull out a pizza stone or baking sheet.
- Combine dough. Stir together 2 1/2 cups flour, 1 Tablespoon baking powder and 1 teaspoon salt in a large bowl. Then add 2 Tablespoons olive oil and slowly stir in 1 cup water. You may not need it all. Add just enough to create a smooth dough. You can use a stand mixer with a dough hook, dough whisk or wooden spoon to mix. You may need to use your hands.
- Roll out dough. Place flour on the counter. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin or toss until 1/4-inch thick and 14-inches wide. You can also make 2 (7-inch) pizzas.
- Add sauce and toppings. Spread 1/2 cup sauce over the dough (this dough tends to soak up the sauce, so make sure the dough is well covered). Then and add your favorite toppings.
- Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly and the center is cooked. If baking smaller pizzas, check around 12 minutes.
- Slice and enjoy while warm. Best served the first day.
