These chocolate dipped Oreo snowflakes are adorable and easy treats the whole family can help make! Only takes 2 ingredients to make.
Tis the season to be making (and eating) treats to share with family and friends. These chocolate covered oreos are dipped in smooth chocolate and make a great addition to any holiday platter. I love to gift these along with rolo pretzel sandwiches, rocky road candy and Christmas crack.
My kids love making these chocolate covered oreos. Not only did they love help making them, but as we were in the kitchen together, they talked about who they would like to gift some to. It warms my heart to see the kids creating and gifting to others. These really are so simple to make that anyone can make them.
How to make chocolate covered oreos
- Melt your chocolate in a double broiler or in the microwave at 50% power. Stir until smooth.
- Dip your oreos into the chocolate with a fork. Tap the fork on the edge of the bowl to remove excess chocolate.
- Place on wax or parchment paper. Draw a circle around the oreo with a toothpick if there is excess so that it will dry with clean lines.
Tips for making chocolate dipped oreos
- Use high quality chocolate (not chocolate chips). I highly recommend the Ghiradelli melting wafers for taste and texture.
- Make sure your chocolate is smooth before dipping.
- Place parchment paper on a baking sheet to make it easy to transfer.
- Make sure to remove excess chocolate from the bottom of the oreo before placing onto the paper. If there’s too much of a spill around, simply draw a circle with a toothpick around the base.
- Store in an airtight container for 1-2 weeks.
Variations
- Use white, milk or dark chocolate depending on flavor preference.
- Make with different flavor of oreos.
- Decorate with colored sprinkles.
- Top with chopped nuts.
- Add crushed candy canes.
- Sprinkle the top with crushed oreo crumbs.
- Place on a lollypop stick before dipping and then wrap in cellophane.

Chocolate covered oreos
Ingredients
For the snowflakes:
- 24 Oreo cookies
- 12 ounces milk chocolate candy melting wafers
- 1/2 cup white chocolate candy melting wafers
For the Christmas trees:
- 24 Oreo cookies
- 12 ounces white chocolate candy melting wafers
- 1/4 cup green candy melting wafers
- 1/4 cup red candy melting wafers
- 1/4 cup milk chocolate candy melting wafers
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with wax paper or parchment. Set aside.
- Pour the chocolate melting wafers into a medium microwave-safe bowl. Heat one bowl at a time for one minute at 50% power, then stir. Continue to heat at 30 second intervals at 50% power until melted, stirring well in between. You may also use a double broiler if preferred. Make sure there are no lumps in the chocolate and that it is smooth and easy to stir.
- Place the Oreo cookies on a fork and dip one by one into the melted chocolate. Turn with a fork to coat completely in chocolate. When the entire cookie is covered with chocolate, lift it out using the fork. Tap the fork on the side of the bowl several times to let the excess chocolate drip off. Slide the Oreo cookie onto the prepared baking sheet with a toothpick and allow to cool completely. Repeat with remaining Oreos. Allow to set.
- To make snowflakes, place the white chocolate melting wafers in a zipper bag or a disposable decorating bag. Heat for 30 seconds at 50% power, then knead the melting wafers to stir. Continue to heat at 30 second intervals at 50% power, until melted. Snip a small corner off the bag and pipe the white chocolate in snowflake shapes on top of the Oreos. Allow to cool completely.
- To make the Christmas trees, follow the same process, but using white chocolate melting wafers. When the white chocolate Oreos have cooled, melt the green melting wafers and pipe a Christmas tree shape. Decorate with dots of red melting wafers for ornaments and milk chocolate melting wafers for the stem.

The perfect Christmas treat! So simple and absolutely adorable!
Thanks!!
Can I use icing instead of the melted chocolate?
You can, but the texture of the Oreo might be more soft than crunchy.
How long do you think the chocolate dipped Oreos will stay fresh? Can they be made a week before Christmas?
If you store them in the fridge, I’m sure they’d be fine!
Love these Oreo snowflakes! I know these will be a huge hit with my son and his friends! They are just the cutest!!! xo
