Creamy and Fresh Watermelon Smoothie
One of our favorite things about summer is picking up a juicy watermelon. It’s a hydrating fruit and something my whole family loves. There’s always bound to be some scraps after cutting it and that is what we love to use in this watermelon smoothie.
I love easy smoothies for breakfast, it’s one of my favorite ways to incorporate fresh fruits into my day. Adding watermelon makes the smoothie so refreshing and delicious. The watermelon pairs perfectly with strawberries and bananas and tastes like summer.
We love refreshing smoothie recipes! Other favorites include mango smoothie, peach smoothie and berry protein smoothie.
How to Make a Watermelon Smoothie
For this watermelon smoothie recipe, you only need 5 simple ingredients, 5 minutes and a blender. It’s super easy to make and the perfect summer breakfast, afternoon snack or late night treat.
- Combine all ingredients in a blender. I like to pour in the liquids first, then add in the fruit. I’ve found this helps it blend easier.
- Blend the ingredients until smooth and creamy. Add more milk to thin out the consistency or more ice to thicken it.
- Taste and add in another Tablespoon of honey if needed. Then pour into glasses and enjoy!
TIP: I love to cut small watermelon triangles to place on cold glasses. It adds a fun and decorative touch.
The Key to a Creamy Consistency
The best way to make your smoothie extra creamy is to use frozen fruit! Once you cut the watermelon, add a few slices in a zip top bag and store in the freezer. I also always have frozen bananas and strawberries in the freezer for smoothies too. Using frozen fruit creates the perfect texture and makes it extra thick and creamy. You will definitely notice a difference!
Other summertime smoothies we love include this recipe for Orange Julius, cherry smoothie, pineapple smoothie recipe and kale smoothie!

Delicious!!! I didn’t have strawberries and used soy milk. This was the best watermelon smoothie 😋. The banana gave it a nice touch!

So happy you enjoyed the watermelon smoothie!

This is great! I had a watermelon that was a bit mealy—-disappointing….so I used it to make this amazing smoothie. I used almond milk and maple syrup instead of milk and honey to keep it plant based. It was fantastic and the color is really lovely. Thanks for this great recipe.

So glad you could make use of your not so great produce, great idea!

This definitely looks yummy 😋. However, I don’t eat bananas. What can I substitute in place of it for this smoothie?
I Heart Naptime
Any frozen fruit will work to substitute for the bananas! Frozen berries or even pineapple would blend well.

We love watermelon lime slushies, but I’d never thought to use watermelon in a smoothie. Delicious! Next time I’ll freeze the watermelon so it’s extra cold and refreshing. :)
