Hey friends! Hope everyone had a great weekend! We had a pretty relaxing weekend with no big plans. It felt SO good to just lounge around with my husband and kiddos. We also worked on our backyard and it is looking up!
With Father’s Day right around the corner, I knew it was time to “spruce” up the outside deck with a new patio set and grill. One of my husbands favorite foods is steak, so I really wanted to serve that on Father’s Day. To be completely honest I have never even cooked steak because we don’t have a grill! So for Father’s Day I thought it would be fun to surprise him {early!} with a new patio set and grill. He LOVED it! It was so nice to enjoy our dinner out on the patio together. This will make a fun Father’s Day tradition.

Our backyard was in DESPERATE need of help, so I am super excited about this new patio set from Kmart. Stay tuned to see some other changes we’ve made to our back yard. If you follow me on instagram you saw the hubs has been working hard on it!
I am so in love with this patio set from Country Living at Kmart. It has the perfect curves and the red is FAB! Not to mention the chairs are super comfy. They also rock back and forth, which is really nice.
Sunday afternoon we spent all evening outside. It was so fun to spend time together as a family. The kids loved running around while we prepared dinner. We made chicken shish kabobs and grilled corn to celebrate. They turned out SO good! Scroll down for the simple recipe. :) With the 4th of July and Deric’s Birthday coming up, I’m sure there will be many more festivities out on the patio!
This guy is such an amazing Dad! I don’t know what I would do without him. It was so fun celebrating a “pre-Father’s Day” party.
Shish Kabobs & Grilled Corn -
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1 juiced lime
- 2 cloves garlic
Instructions
- Combine ingredients in large zip lock bag. Marinate chicken for 4-6 hours in refrigerator. Dice chicken and place on skewers with peppers and your favorite veggies. Grill on low heat for 15-20 minutes. Flip every few minutes.
Grilled Corn:
Spread corn with butter and salt. Wrap in foil (shiny side in). Cook on the grill over low heat for 30 min. Flip half way. You can also take the foil off for the last 5 minutes to brown the corn.
Enjoy!
We made fruit shish kabobs as well. The kids LOVED them!
You can’t throw a party without bottled soda pop! ;) I downloaded these free printables from Delightfully Noted to dress up the bottles. Aren’t they cute?! They are perfect for Father’s Day!
